Why use Private Diagnostics Plus?
The start of any healthcare journey is the diagnosis determined through a range of medical tests. These could include blood test, scans or biopsies. There can be a delay from first seeing a GP to having all investigations completed and a diagnosis established.
To help your client get a faster diagnosis, they can choose a private diagnostics centre in the UK that suits them to get the right tests done quickly. This will be followed by an appointment with a consultant to discuss the results.
How does the Private Diagnostics Plus process work?
Following a Virtual Consultation, to help establish a diagnosis or the next steps in their treatment recommendations, the consultant may suggest that the client undergoes tests. These may include tests that aren't available through public healthcare. The case manager will organise for the tests to be carried out at a test centre across the UK at a time and date that is convenient for the client. Once the test results have been received, the case manager will organise a follow-up consultation to review the findings. Your client will also be provided with a full medical summary report that they can discuss with their case manager and decide their next steps.

Keep in mind
- Travel, accommodation and time off work is not covered if it’s required.
- If your client had any neurological symptoms, diagnosis or investigations before Accelerate started, there is a waiting period of 12 months from the start of the cover before we will cover any diagnostic tests.
What are the next steps following Private Diagnostics Plus?
Following a review of the results through a virtual consultation, the consultant may:
- Refer the client back to public healthcare.
- Recommend a treatment plan that the client can either pursue through public healthcare, private provision or by using the Global Treatment Plus service.
- In certain circumstances suggest that the Precision Cancer Medicine service is used.

Following a referral from a GP or physician to investigate symptoms related to cancer, heart or neurological conditions:
- Fast access to UK consultants, meaning your client gets a quicker diagnosis.
- Your clients choice of who they see.

Second Medical Opinion
If unsure about an existing diagnosis or treatment plan:
- Peace of mind that the correct diagnosis and treatment plan is in place.
- Offers clients more choice when making health decisions with alternative options that may not be available in the UK.
- Access to a pool of global experts.
- Comprehensive report and recommendations.

Precision Cancer Medicine
On diagnosis of cancer:
- Understand the genetic make-up of the cancer to allow for a personalised treatment plan and a more accurate diagnosis.
- If the cancer has a hereditary or genetic component, siblings and children may also have testing and counselling, to help them make decisions about their future health.

Cancer Clinical Trial Support
If no approved cancer treatment available:
- Opportunity to receive treatments not yet available.
- Access to trials overseas as well as in the UK.
- Help with navigating the process of sourcing relevant and available clinical trials.
- A case manager will arrange the logistics of the trial.
- Travel with up to two family members or companions, (three if the claim is for a child).
- Travel, accommodation and daily allowance covered.

Global Treatment Plus
On receiving treatment plan recommendations:
- Medical treatment for cancer, heart surgery, neurosurgery and selected transplants at some of the leading hospitals in the world.
- The chance to receive treatments that might not be offered through public healthcare in the UK.
- Travel with up to two family members or companions, (three if the claim is for a child).
- Travel, accommodation and daily allowance covered.
- Follow up care and continuing medication expenses are also covered.
